Is Google's Chromebook a failure?

In it's market. It dominates.

I'm not talking about the laptop or netbook market either.

It's it's own market. It's the first portable cloud based server terminal.

It has no local storage, and everything it accesses is on the "server" called the internet. I don't know of any other machines that operate like a terminal server that can boot in 8 seconds.

Awesome for schools and anyone else who understands the product.

All the negative reviews I've read about them were from people who completely missed the point. Complaining about no storage space or no CD drive to load software.

Chrome books don't store anything locally accept the browser. And all the browser settings and configuration are stored in your profile in the cloud.

Google figured out that a rediculous percentage of us go straight to the internet when we sit down at our computers. And the web is getting pretty amazing at doing things without anything but your browser. So why not cut out all the crap in between you and the internet.

That's what cromebooks are. They're the future.

With Microsoft devoting over 85% of their development budget to the cloud right now, I'd say they may be the first to come up with a competitive product.
