This is very simple to do, and it will not require any programming on your part.
Steps:
- Create a transaction sheet in your Google Spreadsheet to keep track of all your donations. Make sure you have the following columns: Name, Date, Amount. Date can be used later to show donations in a time period. Put the column names in the 1st row. You only need to fill in your transactions as they happen. Name this sheet "Donations".
- On a separate sheet (Call it "Summary") within the same spreadsheet, you will have your summary calculated automatically.
- Select the summary and create a table gadget. Assign it to it's own sheet.
- Publish the gadget and copy the embed code for your website.
This whole explanation may seem complicated. Don't worry about it.
I've created the working spreadsheet for you to play around with:
https://docs.google.com/s
It's read only for preservation purposes.
When you open it, got to: File> Make a copy…
This will copy the sheet and all the formulas to your own Google account so you can use it as you see fit.
Add some transactions to the Donations sheet and the summary sheet will update automatically. The embedded gadget(s) will update on your website too.
