This is some really exciting stuff. Quantum Science and physics has been around a while now and we have a lot to learn, but we are learning it and even applying it to change the world.
Quantum science has since revealed a very strange world beyond the microscopic level we don't fully understand. A place where the laws of physics don't always apply. Where objects don't always act how we would expect them to. Things change unexpectedly, sometimes vanish and re-appear, change form or appear to "be" two different things at once.
When I first heard of quantum physics years ago, one of the most interesting things about it to me was the subject of Quantum Entanglement. It had been discovered that some objects at the quantum level were closely related or even connected somehow and They would mimic each other's qualities. But the most fascinating and mind blowing thing about this was that these objects could be separated and they still mimiced each other. Even more mind blowing this year I discovered that tests had been done on objects where a change was made to one and it changed the other at a distance.
This opens the door for some incredible technology. I think of instant communication devices over long distances. Like controlling a rover on mars in realtime. Kind of like the "Ansible" communication tech in the Ender's Game universe.
For now though, Google and NASA are taking the first steps in building a quantum artificial inteligence computer that runs not just on ones and zeros, but also qbits -a bit that can be a one or a zero at the same time.
