This month, Wacom is taking digital painting to the next level with the 24HD Touch.
I own a Cintiq 21ux. I use it for drawing, painting, storyboarding, and I even hand it over to my oldest son when he's visiting me at the office. It's easy to use and the best way to paint digitally.
You paint with a stylus directly on screen. I paint using photoshop.
Painting digitally allows you amazing freedom and control over your art. Photoshops powerful tools can allow you to do things otherwise impossible on canvas in a fraction of the time. You have the freedom to Explore different looks and styles on sparate layers which can be arranged in any ordeer or even turned off. Layers can be duplicated, color corrected and discarded if decided. History allows you to go back in time and restore your work several actions ago. Brush modes allow you to brush on light or shadow over existing colors. Place your light and shadows on another layer for even more control and preserve your original work.
Another great thing about digital painting is this: You never need to scan your work and it's ready for printing on anything. You can even print it on canvas.
The New Cintiq 24HD Touch now allows you to zoom rotate and pan using your hands. It's on my wishlist.
